Reading Notes: Narayan Part D
Once
Hanuman makes it across the ocean of Lanka, he makes his way and finds
sita in the Ashoka Vana where she is guarded by demons. Hanuan lets Indrajit,
Ravana’s son, capture him and bring him to Ravana. Mahodara offers to defeat
the monkeys. Hanuman is inclined to trust Vibhishana but Surgriva and Jambavan
are suspicious. Rama treats Vibhishana as the ruler of Lanka in exile. Rama
orders the sea god to help his armies across the water to lanka. Ravana sends
out sends out his spies disguised as monkeys.
Rama orders the attack on lanka. Kumbakarna promises to defeat Rama.
Ravana despairs when he hears of Kumbakarna’s defeat. Before Ravanas battle
with Rama, Ravana sees omnious signs but he is still scornful of Rama because
he is a mere mortal.
